Description:
Over 300 Future Teachers Experience Career “Best Practices”
The Arizona FEA State Conference was held on Thursday, April 3, 2008.There were over 330
students and teachers and 25 schools represented at the conference and over
40 guests representing several agencies in our state. Dr. Karen Nicodemus - the
State School Board President & President of Cochise College was the morning key note speaker
and Amanda Graham, the National FEA Director was our keynote speaker during lunch. Both
provided inspiring words for our student future teachers. We had 19 outstanding breakout
sessions for our students to attend throughout the day to provide students valuable
information about a variety of aspects of the teaching profession by some of the top people in
their
profession. Breakout sessions included workshops on What It Means to be a
Teacher, Special Education, Classroom Management, Lesson Plans, Early Childhood Education,
Technology for the classroom, Success Strategies for College, Resume, Application and
Interview Tips, Career & Technical Education Opportunities, Secondary Science & Math
Careers, Teacher Certification Requirements, Speech Pathology and much more.
Part of the conference experience is the competitions for students that
align with our state Education Professions Standards. The quality of student performance
and preparation was outstanding and the results were very close in each of the categories.
