Description:
Topics and specific performance outcomes were finalized for the mentoring components. Specifically: 1)IEP Processes-how to function on a team, skills in assessing and monitoring student progress; 2) Problem Solving-effective communication with parents, professionals and students; 3)Family and School Collaboration-involving parents as partners in the educational decision making process; 4) Data-based Decision Making-implementing multiple data sources for decision making, utilizing technology for data acquisition and analysis; 5)Collaboration skills-co-teaching. These 5 areas will serve as the foundation for the professional development and induction points for the mentors. Teaching/Learning Modules will be developed over the summer for fall implementation with district novice teachers.
