Description:
Currently we have various types of RTI addressing the needs of our ‘at risk’ population.

Kindergarten is using a Title I instructional assistant with the STAR Lit kit to improve phonemic awareness with a rotating group of students.

First grade has a designated time from 12:00 – 12:30PM. A group of 20 go to the computer lab for raz-kids enrichment while teachers work with small intense groups. Two reading specialists take small groups also during this time.

Second grade has students working with the reading specialist during center time. One teacher has the instructional assistant working with a math group reteaching concepts presented in class with manipulative. The lessons and materials are prepared by the teacher. They have Reads naturally but haven’t started small groups with it at this time.

Third grade has a designated time of 8:30 – 9:00 AM. The teachers work with small intensive groups using Reads Naturally. The reading specialist takes a group for intervention and the instructional assistant has a group using the Hartcourt intervention materials.

Fourth grade has an afterschool math tutoring with two small groups using the Moving With Math materials.

Fifth Grade has teachers working with small groups using Rewards for improving accuracy with multisyllabic words. A group of 6 go to the computer lab for enrichment using raz-kids.

Sixth grade has a designated time from 2:00 – 2:45 PM at the end of the day. Two small groups work with the resource teachers, reading specialist, and instructional assistant using the Harcourt below level readers and focusing on reading strategies.

A group of 3 students are on individual learning levels with raz-kids with portable Dell computers. The classroom teachers have the other below level or on level students reading the Harcourt leveled readers and following a 4 day plan that includes, prediction, identifying the type of questions and answering them, summarizing, reflecting and word study.
