Raising Special Kids provided professional development to 33 pre-service teachers
emphasizing the important role families play in educating their children.
Panel members shared their perspective as a parent of a child with special needs and
successful tools for parent/professional collaborations. 98% of pre-service teachers reported
that they are better able to work effectively with parents and better informed on how to
make decisions regarding students. On a whole they rated a workshop as a five (5 being the
best).
