Description:
Dr. Maria Nahmias of the University of Arizona Teacher Mentoring Project for Special Educators met with several Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) administrators. The administrators were for professional development of teachers, special educators, and Exceptional Education Administration met. Plans for Mentoring Activities in collaboration with TUSD were developed.

The services available to school districts handout was provided and discussed. The TUSD district selected Mentoring Activities with UA in these areas: Website disseminated to ex.ed. teachers, Mentor Support and Training, Professional Development Activities, UA Mentoring Project participation in Welcome Back Teachers in August 2008; Mentoring for 2-3 teachers Spring 2008 and Advising for 10-20 teachers with emergency certifications and in their first three years. The Project website was distributed to all Special Education Teachers in TUSD in mid-April 2008. Several teachers are in the advising and mentoring process as a result. Additional teachers were identified by TUSD administrators for mentoring in mid April 2008. Telephone and Email communication among TUSD administrators and the UA/ ADE Teacher Mentoring Project coordinator continue weekly. Active collaboration phase commenced and is expanding.
